EMC cuts outages in half; more good news expected

Coweta-Fayette EMC is down to 4,500 outages after restoring power to a large group of customers in the Moreland area just before 7 p.m. Thursday. Power was also restored to some areas west of Newnan.

"We hope to have more on in the next couple of hours," said Mary Ann Bell, vice president of public relations and communications for Coweta-Fayette.

At 4 p.m., there were 10,000 outages in Coweta-Fayette's nine-county service area. Bell had said earlier Thursday that it could be as late as Saturday before power was restored to all Coweta-Fayette customers.
