Live ice storm updates from around the county: Thursday paper delayed - will deliver with Friday's edition

Listed below are the live ice storm updates as they have come in to The Newnan Times-Herald. 

7:57 p.m. - Coweta County Transit will resume operations Friday, February 14, 2014. GRTA Xpress service has announced it will resume operations as well.

7:10 p.m. - All Coweta Schools open on Friday, February 14.

6:12 p.m. - Gov. Nathan Deal has delayed the opening of state government until 10 a.m. tomorrow

3:05 p.m. - According to Coweta EMA, Ga Power and Coweta Fayette EMC have brought in additional crews to restore power.

3:00 p.m. - Coweta County offices will reopen for regular operating hours Friday, February 14th

1:12 p.m. - The Post Office will not be delivering mail today. Will resume tomorrow.

12:30 p.m. - Newnan City Hall is open for business until 5 pm today.

8:15 a.m. - According to Jay Jones, Emergency Management Agency for Coweta, roads are passable everywhere. As a rule during storms if you must be on the roads show extreme caution on bridges and hills.

7:45 a.m.:

Good bit of ice on 16 to Senoia.

Coweta Fayette EMC - 8645 customers without power.

Ga. Power – 3000+ in Coweta without power.

Power Lines Down – Welcome to Arnco Road, Josephine Street

Tree & Power Line - Camellia Circle (Lake Hills)

Almost 2,000 homes without power in Sharpsburg.

Senoia still has large pockets of outages.

Accident on Lower Fayetteville E near Newnan Crossing Blvd E.

Snow coming down will end in about an hour from a whole county perspective.

East end of county got the "worst" of it.

Crews will concentrate on hills and bridges.

City of Newnan PWC reporting roads in the city are in good Shape and are currently clearing the parking spaces downtown. LaGrange Street Bridge is a little icy but passable.

9:10 p.m. - City Hall will try to open at noon tomorrow.

6:00 p.m. - Coweta County Transit will not operate Thursday. GRTA Xpress Bus Service will not operate Thursday.

5:43 p.m. - Power companies are NOT giving ETA's for power restoration.

5:18 p.m. - Coweta EMA: "Just requested through commission chairman to Gov Deal more rock salt and power crews."

5:00 p.m. - Updates from around the area:

EMC - 3,678 outages.

Ga Power - 1,886 outages.

2344 hwy 29 - lines down and on fire.

Tree down 2528 highway 54.

850 Poplar Rd. - tree on power line, sparking.

Power line down in area of 470 West Highway 34.

Cranford Mill near Arbor Springs no power since 9am.

4:47 p.m. - All Coweta County offices will be closed Thursday, February 13, 2014 due to weather conditions. All Public Safety, Roads/Public Works personnel should check in with their superiors for further instruction. All county related activities are cancelled as well. A decision about Friday will be made later based on further developments.

4:04 p.m. - Ashley Park in Newnan will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, February 13.

3:40 p.m. - Reports of quickly deteriorating road conditions both within the Newnan city limits and throughout the rest of Coweta.

2:45 p.m. - Coweta-Fayette EMC reporting over 3,000 outages - Georgia Power reporting 1,700.

1:46 p.m. - Bullsboro & Almajack Boulevard are beginning to freeze up. Slush all over the roadways, according to the CCSD.

1:32 p.m. - Perpetual Community Resource Center says they will be extending the hours they will provide shelter through Fri at 9 a.m

11:48 a.m. - Coweta County Schools will remain closed to all staff and students on Thursday, 2/13/14 due to inclement weather.

11:34 a.m. - The Heritage School has just reported they'll be closed tomorrow, Thursday, Feb 13.

10:44 a.m. - The Coweta Public Library System will be closed on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 due to inclement weather.

10:34 a.m. - Brookstone Park off Hwy 154 - power outage

10:03 a.m. - To our print subscribers: Because of icy road conditions this evening, your Thursday paper will be delayed. It will instead be delivered to you along with your Friday paper.

9:27 a.m. - Newnan City Hall offices will be closed today due to weather.

9:10 a.m. - Power outages are widespread and not isolated to certain areas. Reports from east Newnan, Grantville, Luthersville, Senoia, Moreland, Turin and Heard County all reporting power loss.

8:43 a.m. - Trees and power lines are beginning to really come down around Coweta. - Allen Rd. between Moreland & Grantville, 1900 Block of Corinth Rd, 20 Herring Rd. with more reports coming in.

8:25 a.m. - Reports of Roberts Rd. and Glen St. have a tree in the road.

8:11 a.m. - Road blocked on Lower Fayetteville Rd just east of Lora Smith Rd.

7:49 p.m. - Reports that Mac's Marathon fuel station on Hwy 34 W/Franklin Rd. is currently out of regular and mid-grade gasoline. They only have Premium grade.

5:46 p.m. - UWG campuses in Carrollton and Newnan will be closed on Wednesday, February 12, due to the wintry weather. Please stay off the roads when possible.

5:32 p.m. - According to Jay Jones, Director of Coweta County Emergency Management, we can expect a half inch of ice on the eastern side of the county and quarter inch on the western side of the county. Wednesday will predominantly be an ice event transitioning into a snow/sleet event as we transition into Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Snow/sleet totals will reach at least one to one and a half inches. Current models show the western half of the county getting more accumulation of snow that the eastern half - so right the opposite of the ice accumulations .

5:06 p.m. - The National Weather Service has replaced the winter storm warning with an ice storm warning. An ice storm warning has impacts which are as great or greater than the winter storm warning.

5:05 p.m. - Arbor Place Mall will be closing at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 due to weather conditions. They will remain closed all day on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. A delayed opening time is anticipated for Thursday, February 13, 2014 with the exact opening time yet determined.

4:56 p.m. - Newnan City Hall offices are scheduled to open at 10 am tomorrow. The City will continue to monitor the weather conditions in the morning until further notice.

4:49 p.m. - All Coweta County Offices will be closed Wednesday, February 12, 2014 due to forecast weather conditions. All Public Safety, Roads/Public Works personnel should check in with their superiors for further instruction. A decision about Thursday will be made later based on further developments.

4:41 p.m. - Expected road closure - Peachtree Parkway North of Hwy 54 to Hwy 74.

3:49 p.m. - The city of Grantville offices will be closed on Wednesday.

3:34 p.m. - Coweta County Transit and GRTA Xpress service will be halting service due to the expected weather. The Xpress pass sales and customer service call center will be closed on Wednesday, February 12 and will reopen at 1 p,m. on Thursday, February 13.

2:34 p.m. - The Coweta, Fayette, Meriwether Joint Development Authority Meeting for Friday has been canceled due to possible hazardous road conditions.

1:54 p.m. - Newnan Municipal court will be closed Wednesday, February 12. New court dates will be sent by mail.

1:10 p.m. - Carnegie programs canceled on Wednesday, February 12.

12:05 p.m. - All Coweta Schools closed on Wednesday, February 12.
