Coweta and area schools closed Wednesday

Coweta County School System will be closed Wednesday due to severe winter weather conditions across the Coweta area.

All extracurricular activities scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday were canceled as well, said school system spokesman Dean Jackson. For updates on the status of Coweta schools in coming days, visit the Times-Herald website at www.times-herald.com . School officials also recommend monitoring local and regional news stations.

Among other area school closings:

• The Heritage School, Newnan - closed Wednesday.

• West Georgia Technical College - closed Wednesday. All classes and activities canceled.

• Coweta Charter Academy - closed Wednesday.

• Meriwether County Schools - closed Wednesday.

• Troup County Schools - closed Wednesday for all students, faculty and staff.

• Heard County Schools - closed all day Wednesday.

• Carroll County Schools - closed Wednesday for students and staff.

• Fayette County Schools - no school Wednesday for students or staff. Stay tuned to local news stations for information regarding closures for Thursday.

• Griffin-Spalding Schools - schools and offices closed Wednesday.
