Police look for shooting suspects

A Newnan man was injured in a shooting late Wednesday, and police are on the lookout for two suspects.
Officers with Newnan Police Department responded to the victim’s apartment on Christian Drive around 9:15 p.m. and found the front door wide open, according to responding Officer Clifton White in the incident report. Officers entered and found the victim lying against the living room wall with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and possibly another gunshot wound near his upper right underarm, White reported.
Emergency responders soon arrived and treated the victim on scene, White reported. As of Thursday, the victim is in the Intensive Care Unit at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after undergoing surgery for his wounds, said Sgt. Beatrice Bugg, who is leading the investigation. One 9mm bullet casing was found on scene, Bugg said.
According to White’s report, officers spoke with witnesses in the apartment and were able to determine there were two suspects. The victim’s girlfriend told officers she was in the kitchen when the two male suspects arrived. The victim answered the door, invited the two men inside and a fight erupted a few minutes later. The victim’s girlfriend told officers she heard two gunshots, and the suspects fled out the door, White wrote in his report.
The victim’s girlfriend didn’t get a good look at either suspect, according to White. She was able to tell officers that one suspect was wearing a yellow-hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, and the other suspect was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with blue jeans. Another witness also told officers the suspects fled in a small silver or gray vehicle, White reported.
