Larry Owens is sworn in as Senoia's mayor by Coweta Magistrate Judge Robert Stokely.

New Senoia Mayor Larry Owens and new Councilman Chuck Eichorst were sworn in at Monday's meeting of the Senoia City Council.

Owens, a longtime councilman, was elected to succeed longtime Mayor Robert Belisle, who decided not to seek re-election.

Eichorst was elected without opposition to fill Owens' seat on the council.

Both were sworn in by Coweta Magistrate Court Judge Robert Stokely.

During the public comment section of the meeting, two Senoia residents spoke fondly of Belisle.

"Mayor Belisle, you provide strong leadership, stability and dedication to balanced growth for myself and my family," said Ken Hazleton. "You leave a legacy of leadership that will challenge those who follow. I wish you the best of luck."

Joe Cannin presented Belisle with a framed "certificate of appreciation from all of us to you," as well as a framed page of signatures from everyone at Belisle's final council meeting.

Belisle then received a standing ovation.
