First Fill The Stocking checks presented
The first checks from the Fill The Stocking Fund were recently presented to representatives of Bridging the Gap, the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots.
The fund was started a few weeks ago by The Newnan Times-Herald. Donors use a form from the newspaper to designate gifts in honor or in memory of someone. Checks for $711 each were presented to Alison Wallace of BTG, Stephanie May of the Salvation Army and Hank Berkowitz of Toys for Tots.
Presenting the checks were Amy Sweet and Mike McGraw of the Coweta Community Foundation and John Winters, general manager of The Newnan Times-Herald.
'We are excited about the response to the Fill The Stocking Fund,' Winters said. 'This is a great way the newspaper can partner with the community to help families at Christmas.'
Fill The Stocking will continue through Christmas Eve. The three charities will then receive another check.
'We look forward to doing this project again next year. We believe it will grow - and help lots of people in years to come,' Winters said.
Checks should be made payable to Coweta Community Foundation with 'Fill The Stocking' in the memo line. The tax-deductible contributions may be sent to The Newnan Times-Herald, Fill The Stocking, P.O. Box 1052, Newnan, GA 30264.
