Drive-thru Nativity program returns
Watch for traffic on Georgia Highway 34 east of Newnan starting Thursday, as a drive-thru Nativity program returns at Cornerstone United Methodist Church.
The church is presenting its Drive-Thru Nativity, “The Greatest Gift,” starting Thursday.
This second annual presentation by the church will be held Dec. 5-8 from 6-10 p.m. Dana DeGennaro, who handles communications for the church, said the program uses a cast and crew of 100-plus each night.
The cast and crew “will present the Christmas story in 10 live scenes,” she said.
At the entrance of the drive-thru off Highway 34 at Thomas Crossroads guests will receive a CD — available in English or Spanish — that will be their narrator as they drive through the Nativity sets. The scenes include the foretelling of the coming Messiah, the angel Gabriel’s visit to Mary, Caesar’s palace and the decree for the census, Mary and Joseph being turned away at the Inn, the Wise men on the way to Bethlehem and the traditional Nativity scene, among others.
Coffee and hot chocolate will be served at the end of the route at the church building. The exit is onto Georgia Highway 154.
“We cannot wait to share this with the community,” said Paul Griffin, project chairman and Cornerstone UMC member.
