Trinity girls take win into region tournament

Trinity Christian’s girls basketball team headed into this week’s GISA Region 1-AAA tournament with some momentum after closing the regular season with a 38-24 victory over Atlanta Girls School.

Sara Bryan led the Lady Lions with 17 points and Serena Eller and Kaylee Grace had eight and six, respectively.

Host Heritage School takes the No. 1 girls seed and a first-round bye into the tournament which begins Monday with seven games beginning at noon.

The Lady Hawks, who finished the 1-AAA schedule with an 11-0 record, will face the winner of Monday’s 6 p.m. open- ing-round game between Trinity Christian and The Weber School.

Loganville Christian earned the No. 1 seed in the boys tournament.

A complete tournament schedule was unavailable on Saturday since several tie- breakers still had to be decided by coin- flips, including one between Trinity Chris- tian and Holy Spirit boys teams.

The Heritage School’s boys will finish either as the No. 2 or No. 3 seed and open play on Monday.
