‘The Walking Dead’ Shooting In Newnan Thursday

Crews have been filming the new episodes in Georgia, but they keep locations of future episodes closely-guarded secrets until the shows air.

Stalwart Films, LLC was granted a permit from the City of Newnan to film scenes for the AMC television series “The Walking Dead” Thursday, October 24th.

The primary locations are the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks behind 21 1st Avenue and the dead end of Long Place between 21 and 19 1st Avenue.

The company has secured a location agreement with Norfolk Southern to access the railroad tracks and have spoken to the owner of 21 & 19 1st Avenue and his tenants. During filming, they will be closing 1st Avenue between Gilbert Street and 4th Street to through traffic. They will allow access for residents to the First Avenue Park. For certain angles of filming, there will be intermittent traffic control on LaGrange Street between Long Place and Buchanan Street, at the railroad crossing of Spring Street and at the railroad crossing of West Washington Street.

The company also plans to park their filming equipment at the property adjacent to the railroad tracks located at 27 1st Avenue.

The approximate filming hours will be between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
