House education committee sessions continue
by Celia Shortt
The Georgia state House and Senate joint Education Committees’ listening sessions series will continue on Tuesday to garner thoughts, concerns, and feedback from members of the public and educators about education policy in Georgia.
The series kicked off in Newnan on Oct. 1, at Coweta County School System’s Centre for Performing and Visual Arts.
Tuesday’s listening session will be held at the Eastman Campus of Middle Georgia State College in Eastman. Like the one held in Newnan, it will begin at 3 p.m. with a meeting consisting of state legislators and local superintendents. At 4:15, the legislators will meet with local board of education members.
From 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., teachers, parents, superintendents, board of education members, and other members of the community will be able to share their thoughts and concerns about the education policy with the legislators in attendance. The public is encouraged to attend all the meetings.
Following this session, the next will be held on Oct. 29 at Tattnall Hall at Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia. Its schedule will be the same as the others.
