Senoia candidates to debate issues tonight
The Senoia Forums Group is hosting a forum for the candidates seeking election for Senoia city mayor post tonight.
The forum is 7 p.m. in the courtroom of the Senoia City Municipal Building at 505 Howard Road in Senoia.
It will provide the candidates the opportunity to express their views on city issues and answer questions submitted by Senoia residents and from the Questions Committee of the Senoia Forums Group.
The candidates for mayor are: City Councilman Larry Owens; Suzanne Helfman, chairwoman of the Senoia Downtown Development Authority; and Retired Col. Don Rehman.
Each candidate will be given time for an opening comment, answer questions on city issues, and a closing comment.
Questions will be accepted from forum attendees and will be asked, if time permits. Question cards must be filled out upon entrance to the Municipal Building. Questions must be directed to all candidates and only on city business and issues. If the questions are not addressed due to time restraints, the candidates will be asked to respond to an email address or by phone, forum organizers said.
Municipal elections are Nov. 5, and early voting began Oct. 14, at the Coweta County Voter Registrar’s office in the Coweta County Administration Building, 22 East Broad St. in downtown Newnan.
Senoia Forums Group was organized and developed by Joe Cannin. Tonight’s forum is sponsored by the Senoia Area Business Association.
Also, a Newnan City Council candidate forum is Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at SummerGrove Clubhouse. That forum is sponsored by Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce. Scott Cosby and Dustin Koritko face each other for the new District One seat on Newnan’s City Council in the Nov. 5 municipal elections.
