A man and a woman were arrested Monday after selling suspected methamphetamine to a confidential informant with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Lt. Col. Jimmy Yarbrough with the sheriff’s office, the Crime Suppression Unit had been monitoring a suspect, Earnest Martez Derring, 31, for possibly selling methamphetamine south of Moreland. Around 3 p.m. in a parking area off U.S. Highway 29 South between Grantville and Moreland, a confidential informant working for the CSU bought a gram of methamphetamine from Derring, and the CSU moved in to make the arrest, officials said.
Both Derring and the woman in the passenger’s seat of his vehicle, Sandra Lynne Mayes, 53, were charged with the manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. They were transported to the Coweta County Jail.
