Main Street’s Taste of Newnan festival tonight

The 2013 Fall Taste of Newnan, an annual event hosted by Main Street Newnan, takes place this Thursday, Oct. 3 in historic downtown.

The event, which begins at 5 p.m. and lasts through 8:30 p.m., will feature an assortment of local restaurants and caterers spread across North and South Court Square offering a “taste” of their delectable treats.

In addition, this year’s event will feature a Kids Zone along West Washington Street, equipped with rides, games, face painting and more. With more than 40 participants registered, this year’s event is sure to impress, says city Business Development Director Hasco Craver.

Live entertainment will feature Jonny Diaz, a Christian mainstream artist from Nashville, and Paige McCauley, an Atlanta singer and songwriter with country flare. The entertainment is being sponsored by The Joy 93.3 FM, in partnership with The Southern Credit Union. The live entertainment will be located along West Broad Street. In addition, tables and chairs will be set up adjacent to the live music stage for those attendees looking to relax and enjoy the event.

Tickets will be sold for $1/each at the event or you can beat the crowds and purchase food sample tickets in advance at one of the following locations: Let Them Eat Toffee, Wellness Center of Piedmont Newnan, R. DuBose Jewelers and Encore Decor.

This season’s event will feature ice cream, BBQ, Italian ice, pizza, ribs, baked goods, pasta, seafood, Chinese and Thai selections, candied apples, funnel cakes, fried Oreos, roasted corn, fresh squeezed lemonade, kettle corn and more.

Free public parking lots are available on the corner of LaGrange Street and Spring Street, First Avenue and Spring Street, near East Broad Street and Perry Street, as well as East Washington Street and Perry Street.

The event is open to the public and there is no admission charge.

As with all Main Street events, this is rain or shine.
