Exhibits big draw at Coweta County Fair

The Coweta County Fair opens tonight for a 10-day run at the Coweta County Fairgrounds on Pine Road.
Hours are 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. tonight, and opening night is considered the best value. There will be free gate admission with the donation of a canned good, and unlimited ride armbands will be reduced from $25 to $18.
Standard gate admission is $5. Children under age 6 enter free with paid adult admission. Unlimited ride armbands cost $25. Armbands are not valid on Friday or Saturday nights. Monday is Chick-fil-A night, with $5 off an armband with coupon, and Saturday, Sept. 28, the last day of the fair, is Military Appreciation Night. All active and retired military personnel will be admitted free with military ID.
Hours of operation will be 5 p.m. to midnight on Fridays, from noon to midnight on Saturdays, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, and from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The 4-H petting zoo will close at 9 each night and the exhibit hall will close at 10.
There are various events and competitions held during the fair.
Saturday's events will be the 4-H horse show at 5 p.m. in the horse arena, and the Lumberjack and Lumberjill competition at 6 p.m. in the livestock arena.
Sunday will feature Master Gardener "Family Feud" at 5 p.m. in the exhibit hall, and Monday's show will be the 4-H rabbit showmanship show at 6:30 p.m. in the ag building and the gingerbread house-decorating contest at 6:30 in the exhibit hall.
