An 8-year-old was arrested on a felony charge Thursday for threatening others with a blade he brought to Coweta County’s Poplar Road Elementary School.

The juvenile was disciplined for bringing a 2-inch blade to school and threatening other juveniles with it, said Lt. Col. Jimmy Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

The 8-year-old was charged with a felony for aggravated assault with a knife.

According to Dean Jackson, public information officer for the Coweta County School System, the school code of conduct prohibits all students from possessing any kind of weapon on a school campus.

No further information on the juvenile or incident was available Friday.
