Matching DNA leads to rape arrest
by Wes Mayer
A man was charged with rape Friday when the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office received matching results from DNA tests.
The man, Devin Raynard Wilson, 27, was first suspected of the rape on June 2, said Lt. Col. Jimmy Yarbrough with the sheriff’s office.
Investigators were notified of the rape and were told Wilson had raped the 19-year-old daughter of his girlfriend.
DNA tests were administered and sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Yarbrough said.
Results that matched Wilson to the victim were returned to the sheriff’s office on Friday, and he was later arrested in his home and transported to the Coweta County Jail.
