--Coweta’s unemployment at 8.4 percent; Three Rivers planning region's unemployment rate rises to 11.1 percent in July.

--More people expected to travel for Labor Day weekend; a look at gas prices.

--Coweta County Sheriff’s Office officials are warning about callers scamming for credit and debit card information, especially with calls to the area’s older residents.

--Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has ordered an extensive review of national education guidelines known as Common Core standards. The educational standards brought comments and concern at a recent meeting of the Coweta County Board of Education.

--A pet vaccine clinic will be offered at the HELP spay/neuter clinic in Newnan Saturday.

--Suspects are wanted for an armed robbery of a Turkey Creek Road convenience store. Shots were fired as the suspects were chased on Poplar Road by a family member of the store's owner.

--A suspect is in the Coweta County Jail on child molestation charges.

*WEEKENDER FEATURES*

Nashville-based a cappella group Street Corner Symphony comes to the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts Tuesday.

The Cochran Gallery in downtown LaGrange is hosting an entire Barbie Beach exhibit, featuring photos by Anne Berry and Donna Rosser, and an installation of several scenes from Barbie Beach. The opening reception for the exhibit will be Friday, Aug. 23, from 6 to 9 p.m.
