Here's a short preview of what's appearing in tomorrow's online and print edition of The Newnan Times-Herald:
-- Newnan DDA meeting -- A groundbreaking ceremony for the University of West Georgia hospital redevelopment project for the new Newnan Center campus will be Sept. 9, it was announced at the Newnan Downtown Development Authority meeting Wednesday. The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the former hospital property on Jackson Street north of downtown Newnan.
--Coweta Board of Commissioners Tuesday rejected plans for a private flying club on a 151-acre tract near Moreland that already has a grass air strip; but the commissioners did approve a request for a kennel on the same property.
--In a separate action, the Coweta Commissioners denied a request for a special events center on a five-acre tract that is part of a 78-acre tract near the corner of Smokey and Chandler roads.
--Also denied by the Coweta Commissioners were a proposed upscale apartment complex planned for property behind the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority's Xpress Bus Park and Ride lot on Hollz Parkway off Ga. Highway 34 East and a "continuing care retirement community" with detached homes, villas, assisted living and memory care proposed for property off Hollz Parkway behind a recently-opened automobile dealership.
--A traffic signal was recently put into service at the corner of Bullsboro Drive and Millard Farmer Industrial Boulevard.
--Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity held its most recent "house blessing" in Newnan Tuesday, with special guest Congressman Lynn Westmoreland in attendance.
--The Newnan Kiwanis Club is gearing up for the 2013 Coweta County Fair and has already begun selling "mega passes" for the fair which runs Sept. 19-28.
