Commissioners deny almost all rezoning requests
by Sarah Fay Campbell
During a marathon four-hour meeting Tuesday night, the Coweta County Commissioners denied almost every zoning request that came before them.
Rejected were plans for a private flying club on a 151-acre tract near Moreland that already has a grass air strip, a special events center on a five-acre tract that is part of a 78-acre tract near the corner of Smokey and Chandler roads, an upscale apartment complex on property behind the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority Park and Ride lot on Hollz Parkway off Ga. Highway 34 East, and a "continuing care retirement community" with detached homes, villas, assisted living and memory care proposed for property off Hollz Parkway behind the new automobile dealership.
The commissioners did approve a request for a kennel on the same property proposed for the flying club.
