The upcoming Charles Wadsworth and Friends concert in the Newnan auditorium that bears his name is officially a sellout.

The planned April 20 Charles Wadsworth and Friends concert in Newnan is officially a sellout.

The event, the farewell concert in a series of more than two decades, will bring both familiar and new talent to the Wadsworth Auditorium stage. The auditorium in the Newnan Municipal Building on Jefferson Street is named in honor of Wadsworth.

“Due to the overwhelming response to the Wadsworth & Friends farewell concert, tickets are no longer available,” said Newnan Public Information Officer Gina Snider, on behalf of the Newnan Cultural Arts Commission.

Wadsworth plans to make his Wadsworth & Friends farewell concert a special one, members of organizing group the Newnan Cultural Arts Commission said. He has made a particular effort to include artists who have delighted Newnan and Coweta County audiences with their previous performances.

The 2013 Wadsworth & Friends artists include:

• Soprano Courtenay Budd, who graduated from Newnan High and the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. She also earned a master’s degree from Westminster Choir College before her long string of concert and operatic performances in Carnegie Hall, at Spoleto USA, in Lincoln Center, and with the National Symphony — to name just a few. She regards Charles Wadsworth as her mentor and frequent collaborator and looks forward to entertaining her hometown audience once again.

• Violinist Chee-Yun has performed with many of the world’s greatest orchestras, is frequently featured soloist on National Public Radio, and is a much sought after violin instructor. She first appeared at the Wadsworth Auditorium in 1993 and, although she has toured the globe, she cites Newnan as one of most her favorite venues.

• Cellist Edward Arron has been playing the cello since the age of 7. He grew up in New York, graduated from The Julliard School, and has garnered worldwide recognition for his elegant musicianship and impassioned performances. He has appeared in recital, as a soloist with orchestras, and as a chamber musician throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Arron performed previously on the Wadsworth Auditorium stage in 2008.

• Baritone Michael Kelly will be new to the Wadsworth Auditorium stage. His insightful interpretations, silken voice, and expressive use of language have garnered him many accolades on the concert stage. The qualities Kelly brings to the concert stage are also matched in his opera performances. The Wadsworth & Friends concert program will not only include him as a soloist but will also include duets with Courtenay Budd.

• Pianist Ji- (pronounced “Gee”) Yong is an extraordinary artist. He is a pianist who has both an awe-inspiring technique and a musical depth well beyond his years. In 2001, at the age of 10, Ji-Yong became the youngest pianist ever to win the New York Philharmonic Young Artists Competition. At age 21, he will be the youngest artist to have ever appeared among any of the current and previous Wadsworth & Friends concerts.

With Charles Wadsworth as host and the impressive assemblage of artists, it all promises to be another glittering evening at what has become Newnan and Coweta County’s most spectacular cultural events, said Concert Chair John White.

General admission tickets for the concert have been sold out.
