Keep Newnan Beautiful needs volunteers for cleanup Saturday

by Staff Reports

Keep Newnan Beautiful is encouraging people of all ages to demonstrate that they love where they live by joining hands and volunteering for the 2013 Great American Cleanup event Saturday in Newnan.

As one of approximately 600 Keep America Beautiful community certified affiliates, Keep Newnan Beautiful encourages residents and local organizations to respond to this opportunity for civic engagement and action.

Keep Newnan Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup is this Saturday.

Volunteers will meet behind Newnan City Hall, LaGrange Street, between 8:30 and 9 a.m. Saturday to register and receive a street assignment, supplies and breakfast biscuit with drink.

“We are hoping for a large turnout this year and welcome individuals and/or groups of all ages. In addition, we are happy to provide community hours for participation in the event to students who need them,” said Director Carol Duffey.

“Service to the community is the ultimate demonstration that you care about where you live. Participating in the Great American Cleanup can become a foundation for uniting friends, family, and neighbors in activities that don’t just make our community aesthetically pleasing, but also make it more effective at overcoming challenges,” Duffey said.
