High school instrumentalists and vocalists have an opportunity to compete for scholarships at the Newnan Kiwanis Club Music Showcase.
Applications must be received by Friday for the event, which will be held March 27 at 7 p.m. at Newnan First United Methodist Church Parish Hall. Any student in grades 9-12 educated in Coweta County – including home-schooled musicians – are eligible to participate. First place musician will receive a $700 scholarship, second place $300 and third place $200.
Groups of five or fewer members including the accompanist may participate. Except for the accompanist of an act, only amateur talent may participate in the competition. A qualified panel of judges will determine the winners of Kiwanis Music Showcase. The decision of the judges will be final.
Performances cannot exceed four minutes, and all contestants must bring their own accompanist. Kiwanis will supply a sound system and microphones for the competition, and contestants must provide all other instruments and equipment.
