Totally dark and inactive on most days — save for a few local concerts, programs, and dance recitals — Newnan’s Wadsworth Auditorium comes alive annually for one of its most glamorous and culturally-exciting events.
It will happen this year on April 20, when Newnan famous son Charles Wadsworth will bring the annual Wadsworth & Friends Concert to the stage. The stage will be filled with musicians of exceptional quality, and an expected full-house audience will take part in what has been announced as Charles Wadsworth’s “Farewell” concert.
The event is sponsored by the Newnan Cultural Arts Commission.
“Many of the concert seats will be filled by patrons who historically have supported the event and truly appreciate its excellence,” said Concert Chair John White.
Also, a limited number of $20, general admission tickets will be available starting Wednesday.
“I hope the general public realizes what a value this represents for a concert of this quality,” White said.
“With a limited capacity of 624 seats, tickets for the concert are always in high demand,” he said. The auditorium is located in the Newnan Municipal Building, now serving as the city’s public safety complex, on Jefferson Street.
The Wadsworth & Friends concert has become an annual sell-out.
General admission tickets will be available starting Wednesday at Let Them Eat Toffee on the Court Square, at Morgan’s Jewelers in Ashley Park, and at the Bank of North Georgia at Thomas Crossroads.
Patron tickets for the event, including a post-concert reception, are also available. Patron inquiries are invited and information is available from White at 770-253-1959. Visit www.ci.newnan.ga.us for more information.
