Editor’s note: Today The Newnan Times-Herald reporter John Winters has a twist on the crime beat as he shares the tale of a calf chase along a busy Newnan highway.
Having grown up in Oklahoma, I am quite familiar with the famous cattle drives of yore.
Occasionally, however, one obstinate calf-a-roo will not play nice. And so the cowboys will get on their horses and herd the laggard back into the herd.
Pretty simple when you’ve got a horse, rope and the open plains.
Doing so in an urban environment, however, presents a wee bit different scenario. The term “herding cats” comes to mind.
