The city of Grantville has hired two new full-time police officers.
Corporal Dustin Bulcher of the Grantville Police Department introduced Officer William Faulkner and Officer Ryan Loubet at Monday’s Grantville City Council meeting.
Faulkner began his law enforcement career as a jailer with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office in 2010, moving on to get his Peace Officer’s Standards and Training Council (POST) certification and working with Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College before accepting the position in Grantville.
Loubet also started his career as a jailer, hiring on with the Heard County Sheriff’s Department in 2008 and transferring to the patrol division in 2012. In January 2013, Loubet was hired by Grantville.
Mayor Jim Sells welcomed the new officers on behalf of council members.
In other business Monday, Grantville Council:

• Could not agree on a vote to accept the Downtown Development Authority’s recommendation to remove Sandy Luttrell from the authority.

Council asked the DDA to recommend removal of one member because DDA board was one director over the limit established by state law. Council member Barham Lundy publicly resigned his seat on the DDA following a tense debate, eliminating the necessity of a vote by council.

• Voted to adopt and have the mayor sign an intergovernmental agreement with Electric Cities of Georgia.

• Approved an amendment to Grantville’s Occupational Tax Ordinance following a second reading.

• An administrative committee meeting has been scheduled for Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. to discuss setting Occupational Tax rates.
