Big Give event Thursday

Coweta Community Foundation is partnering with the American Red Cross to host the third annual Dr. Gerald Troutman Big Give event in Newnan on Thursday.

The drive will be held 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Ashley Park at the former Lime Tree Store located at 360 Newnan Crossing Bypass. This year’s highlighted charity is Bridging the Gap. Coweta residents are being encouraged to come out and donate blood as well as donate non-perishable food items to help those within the Coweta community.

This year’s Big Give honors the legacy of former Coweta Community Foundation board member and longtime Newnan resident the late Gerald S. Troutman.

Troutman was passionate about serving and supporting the community in which he lived. He was an active member of the Coweta Community Foundation until he passed away in October 2012.

At age 78, Troutman was also proud and excited to give blood as a donor at the Big Give American Red Cross blood drive. Appointments may be scheduled online by visiting www.redcrossblood.org clicking “make a donation” and using the sponsor code “cowetacf.” All presenting donors will be entered into a drawing for a $1,500 gift card, said CCF spokesperson Deidre Bembry.
