New film production guidelines on Commission agenda

Approval of new film production guidelines is on the agenda for Tuesday's meeting of the Coweta County Board of Commissioners.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and is held in the county commission chambers on Perry Street.
The new guidelines also contain a fee schedule. Currently, the filming guidelines are an excerpt in the county's facility rental policy.
According to agenda materials, and overall set of guidelines and a fee schedule is needed. According to agenda materials, the guidelines were developed "following much research on how other communities and areas handle filming projects that utilize county/municipal property."
County staff is also recommending that the commissioners authorize the county's event services director to execute film location agreements on behalf of the county, unless circumstances require approval by the commissioners.
Other items to come before the board include:
• Approval of a temporary part-time employee to process firearm permits in Coweta Probate Court. According to agenda materials, "based on the permit activity over the last six months, this position is necessary to continue processing the applications in a timely manner."
The recommendation is to approve the position for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2013, which ends Sept. 30.
• Setting a public hearing on proposed changes to the county's sign ordinance. The public hearing will likely be held Feb. 19.
• A request from the town of Sharpsburg to annex a 0.44-acre tract, located at Sunset Drive and Ga. Hwy. 54.
• A request from Fayette County for the board to adopt a resolution or sign a letter indicating the county's support for intersection improvements at Ga. Hwy. 74 and Interstate 85 in Fairburn. The commissioners executed a similar resolution in 2005.
• Adoption of the improved sections of Stewart and Reese Roads back into the county's road system.
• A request to temporarily close Poplar Road on Feb. 19.
