Coweta County Citizen of Year nominees named

Nominations are in and the Citizen of the Year Selection Committee now must make the difficult decision as to the person to be named 2013 Coweta County Citizen of the Year.
The individuals whose talents and good works will be considered for the 2013 Citizen of The Year title include George Alexander, Kay R. Crosby, Bette Hickman, Brown and Marie Powell, Jim Sells and Leo Wheat III.
The public responded to the call to nominate individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and citizenship within the community, as well as those who have demonstrated exemplary vision, civic pride and a strong commitment to a better Coweta.
Persons eligible for consideration must be residents of Coweta County and his/her activities centered within the county and the surrounding area. Recognition will be given for leadership and performance in multiple areas of community service over a period of years. Persons nominated may come from any walk of life, and there are no requirements or restrictions relating to gender, age, race, religion or ethnic origin.
The 2013 Citizen of the Year Gala Reception will be held Feb. 7 at the Coweta County Fairgrounds on Pine Road. The event will be hosted by the four Kiwanis Clubs in Coweta, including Newnan, White Oak Golden K, Coweta County and Grantville.

Tables for eight may be purchased until Jan. 24 for $200 by calling Ticket Chair Louise Davis at 770-253-7147. All checks are payable to the Newnan Kiwanis Club.

Tickets are $25 per individual and may be purchased through Jan. 31 at the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce at 23 Bullsboro Drive, Scott’s Book Store on the Court Square in Newnan, SouthTowne Motors and from any Coweta County Kiwanis Club.

The Gala Dinner Buffet will begin at 6:30 p.m., with an opportunity to greet all the nominees preceding the grand announcement of Coweta’s 2013 Citizen of the Year.
