Emergencies and disasters strike at any time. Are you prepared to face them?
The Peachtree City Police Department will be hosting a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class beginning March 7.
Classes will be held Thursdays for 10 weeks from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Peachtree City Police Department.
The CERT program provides an excellent opportunity to learn about how to prepare yourself and your family for hazards that may affect our community. Attendees will be trained in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations. The program culminates in a mock disaster exercise where participants put into action what they have learned throughout the program.
Prospective candidates must be at least 18 years old and residents of Georgia.
Applicants will be required to complete an enrollment forms, applicable waivers and a background check will be performed as a pre-condition for acceptance.

There is no charge to attend the class; however, class size will be limited to 25 participants.

Applications are available online at www.peachtree-city.org/police (click on the CERT link) or may be obtained from the Peachtree City library, city hall, police department and various other locations throughout Peachtree City. The application deadline is Feb. 26.

For more information about the CERT program, contact Capt. Stan Pye at 770-487-8866, email: spye@peach .
