A bow hunter who was recently robbed at gunpoint is offering a reward for his rifle, which was taken during the incident.
Eric Sumner was hunting on property off Poplar Road east of Newnan and was returning to his truck when he told authorities a man approached him and accused him of trying to shoot him, said Major Jimmy Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
Sumner told investigators the suspect pointed a semi-automatic pistol at him and then took his bow, wallet, cell phone and a rifle from his truck.
“Eric Sumner called us up today (Friday) and said he’d like to offer a reward for the rifle,” the major said, adding it was a Winchester m Model 94, .30-30 caliber.
Authorities are continuing the investigation and are looking for a white male, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, last seen wearing bagging blue jeans, a dark shirt and a half-face mask.
Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office at 770-253-1502
