One brother was killed and another remains in serious condition after a one-vehicle accident Saturday night in south Coweta County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
A 2008 Toyota Tundra was on Moore Road headed toward Martin Mill Road when it went off the right side of the road, said Corporal Katie Thompson with the GSP. The truck then went across the roadway to the left side, overturned and the cab hit a tree, said Thompson.
"We are not sure if the driver overcorrected or what... it's still under investigation," Thompson said, adding the GSP's accident team was reviewing the accident.
The driver of the vehicle, Stephen Cooper, 32, of Newnan, was flown by air ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center where he was in the Intensive Care Unit. His brother, Charles Cooper, 33, of Jacksonville, Fla., died at the scene, the trooper said.
The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. Saturday. It was the second fatality in the county over the Thanksgiving weekend. Erik Lindstrom was killed Friday morning when his car drifted across lanes and he ran under a logging truck on Highway 16.
