Celebration of life fundraiser held for 3-year-old cancer victim

Everything and everyone from the Batmobile to face-painting clowns to local country music stars were on hand Saturday to celebrate the life of Korey Latham.
The 3-year-old Manchester boy died Tuesday, shortly after taking a trip to Disney World through the Make-A-Wish foundation. In June of 2011, he was diagnosed with a stage IV neuroblastoma and had a relapse in August.
The concert was to help Korey’s family “with funeral expenses and anything else they need,” said event organizer Kristi Bales. “We’re offering a little bit of everything here and just want to thank everyone for coming out. It’s very important to us.”
Newnan-native Doug Stone said that “Korey went through a whole lot .
“I hoped he could be here, but God had other plans,” Stone said. “I’ve got five kids myself and to all of us this seems like a tragedy, but God’s master plan always works out ... and right now Korey’s in heaven.”
Stone’s first two albums in the early 1990s went platinum. Overall, he has charted 22 singles on Hot Country Songs, four No. 1s and eleven more Top Ten singles.
Another Newnan native, Corbett Jackson, was slated to play Saturday evening. He currently is working on his debut album in Nashville at EMI Studios on Music Row.
Other musicians taking the state throughout the day were Trenton Ewing, Lance Mapp, Jessie Cintron, David Leon and Justine Kelley.
