The Peachtree City Police Department recently won first place in its category in the Governor’s Challenge Traffic Safety Awards.
In the same competition, the department also won the Technology Award “for innovative and effective use of technology in promoting traffic safety,” according to a department press release. The awards were announced on Nov. 9.
“Agencies are evaluated not just for enforcement initiatives, but for innovative problem solving in their communities, using public information and education activities, and creating departmental policies that support their traffic safety efforts,” it was stated in a press release.
“This competition is a unique way for law enforcement agencies to improve their efforts to save lives and prevent traffic injuries.”
Earlier this year, the department was also awarded third place at the International Association of Chiefs of Police National Law Enforcement Challenge, another traffic safety recognition program.
