Beginning on Nov. 26, two Coweta County roads will be closed for major bridge/ culvert repairs.
The first is Luther Bailey Road, where Coweta County will assist the city of Senoia in completing emergency repairs on a bridge, said Coweta Public Affairs Director Patricia Palmer.
The county will be providing labor and equipment, she said.
“We will replace the bridge with culverts. Work will begin immediately, but Luther Bailey Road will be closed at the bridge beginning Nov. 26. Weather permitting, the majority of the work will be completed in two weeks and the road can be opened,” Palmer said.
Even after the road is re-opened, there will still be work to complete and there will be times when only one lane will be open, she said. The detour route will be Norton Road to Rock House Road to State Route 16.
Also on Lower Fayetteville Road, the Georgia Department of Transportation is closing the bridge over Shoal Creek beginning Nov. 26.

“This bridge will require much more significant work and the work will require the road to be closed there for approximately nine months,” Palmer said.

“The need for this replacement is great as this bridge serves a very busy road and it one of the lowest rated bridges in the county,” she said.

The replacement bridge will be about 100 feet longer than the current bridge and the grade of the new bridge will be raised about 3.5 feet.

The detour route will be Bob Smith Road to Stewart Road to State Hwy. 54 to Fischer Road.
