Retired Coweta educator Menlia Trammell has published her second book in less than a year.
Trammell’s new book, “The Gift,” highlights various aspects of the Christmas season. Each letter in “Christmas” is an opening for the possibilities of what might be in a gift box, with the final surprise focusing on the holiday’s deepest meaning.
“The Gift” features richly colored illustrations by Curtis Moses.
Trammell will be autographing copies of the book on Tuesday from 3-4:30 p.m. at Scott’s Bookstore.
Trammell’s first book, “Rob and Rex Prevent a Poaching,” was published this summer. That book – which grew from an idea she got when teaching lessons about endangered species – also featured illustrations by Moses.
Trammell taught twice in Coweta County. In the mid-1980s, she taught at Elm Street and Northside and started the countywide elementary gifted program. She later taught in Bibb County before returning to the area.
She retired as counselor at Poplar Road Elementary in 2003, after having been there five years.

An Atlanta native, Menlia Moss Trammell grew up in Cobb County. She holds degrees from Truett-McConnell College and Mercer University and taught for 30 years.

She lives in Luthersville, where her husband, Bob Trammell, is the mayor.

The Trammells are members of Central Baptist Church in Newnan.
