Traffic was backed up for quite a while Tuesday afternoon on U.S. 29 north of Newnan, but it was for a good cause.
Military personnel, along with firefighters and police officers from Duluth, Ga., and Tallahassee, Fla., and other points in-between were in the midst of a three-day run from Duluth to Tallahassee in support of wounded special operations warriors.
Tuesday afternoon, a Duluth police car with flashing blue lights led a single runner down U.S. 29, with another Duluth police vehicle towing a support trailer behind him.
It was all part of a fundraising effort for Operation One Voice.
"Designed by police officers and firefighters, Operation One Voice is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the financial needs of the children and families of wounded and fallen Special Operations Forces soldiers," according to information on the organization's website.
This year the group, made up of 35 people, was honoring Neil Roberts, the first Navy Seal killed in Iraq, according to Sergeant Steve Daniels with the Duluth Police Department. The organization was started by his lieutenant, Bill Stevens.

"We run 24/7 for three days until we get to Tallahassee," Daniels said. "We have additional support teams up ahead sleeping right now and when we get up to them, they will take over."

The group sells commemorative "challenge coins" for $10 each, which can be ordered on their web site at operationonevoice.org .
