The Georgia Graduate Realtor Institute recently sponsored a two-day course of study in Savannah leading to the Certified Distressed Property Expert designation.
Three Coweta County Realtors —Linda Mitchell, Prudential Georgia Realty; Veronica Bangsboll, Prudential Georgia Realty; and Katherine Todd, Keller Williams — took the course, earned the designation, and learned how to help homeowners facing financial hardships by understanding how to navigate foreclosure alternatives, including short sale.
Since 2008 mortgage delinquency, unemployment, and underemployment figures have been at or near record highs. Recent estimates from the Charfen Institute show that one in five homeowners nationwide owe more on their home than it is currently worth, making apparent the need for more agents with specific training in short sales and foreclosure avoidance options. The mission of CDPE is “to solve the foreclosure crisis one homeowner at a time.”
