Newnan reservoirs are at 74 percent

Despite lower-than-normal rainfall, Newnan’s water reservoirs remain at 74 percent capacity as fall begins.
That report was presented at Friday’s meeting of the Newnan Water, Sewerage & Light Commission.
The Newnan Utilities Water Operations Department continues to assist the Newnan Fire Department by providing water supply information needed for upcoming ISO fire insurance ratings.
The city water and light commission also learned that water line rehab projects in the areas near Eastgate shopping center and the Food Lion on Jackson Street are near completion.
Also, water and sewer relocation will begin soon at the intersection area of Jackson Street, Roscoe Road and Sprayberry Road, where the intersection is being redesigned and rebuilt to provide better, safer traffic flow.
Newnan Utilities’ electrical and engineering department reported that 3,500 utility poles are being inspected by Osmose Co. and their report should be concluded by November.
Raw water pump station prequalification for construction will be advertised to the public for a project in the upcoming weeks.
The finance department reported that Newnan Utilities financials for the current year are all within projections and budgeting for 2013 had begun.
A Customer Appreciation Day will be held Oct. 9 at the Newnan Utilities Carl Miller Park adjacent to the Newnan Utilities offices on Sewell Road. Also, tickets for the Oct. 23 Taste of Home Cooking School went on sale Monday and are available at the Newnan Utilities offices or The Newnan Times-Herald offices on Jefferson Street in downtown Newnan.
