Eagle Scout D. J. Sokoloff gave the Moreland Town Council a report on his Eagle project at the council’s August meeting.
During the meeting in the town hall at the Moreland Mill, Sokoloff reported on his work to clean and stain a boardwalk in town. The boardwalk runs between the downtown area and Moreland Elementary School.
He said about 13 hours was spent pressure washing the outdoor structure.
“It looks really good,” Councilwoman Carmen Brown. “It really does,” agreed local resident Angie Perry.
Councilman Dick Ford said the boardwalk is “a whole lot safer” since Sokoloff finished his project. The wood was “really slick anytime it got wet” prior to the upgrade, Ford said.
Sokoloff, a member of Troop 151, also worked with other Scouts to put six birdhouses at the boardwalk.
“It was a good job,” Councilman Jeff Burgess, an Eagle Scout himself, told Sokoloff. “We appreciate your taking it on.”
Burgess noted a number of Eagle Scouts have tackled projects in Moreland. He said the council always tries to work with the Scouts.
