Hundreds of students and their parents turned out Saturday to pick up some free donated school supplies.
It was the fourth annual Community Kidz Back to School Bash held Saturday morning at the Coweta County Fairgrounds. Participants got to listen to bands, eat hotdogs and pick up backpacks and supplies for the new school year.
“This is for underprivileged children who need help with items for back to school,” said Deborah Shepperd, pastor of Unveiling World Outreach Ministry and chairwoman of the event.
School supplies were put together in backpacks and were age-appropriate, including items for all ages from kindergarten through high school. Also handed out were clothing and other personal care items.
A big grill was set up and hundreds of hotdogs were dished out. Afterwards, kids were out on a castle jumpy while parents listened to bands.
“We just want to thank all the sponsors for their help,” Shepperd said. “We couldn’t do it without them.”
Sponsors and donors included: 92.5 FM The Bear; Andy Print Shoppe; A Balloon Affair; A Sharp Affair; BJ’s Wholesale Club; Care Diem Productions; CK Music and Entertainment; Coweta County Housing Authority; GNC - Newnan; Grenzebach; Golden Corral; Healthy Life Chiropractic; Lexus of South Atlanta; MeadWestvaco; Newnan Utilities; Office Depot; Southern Company; Southtowne Motors; State Farm, Bill Leppo and Phil Aaron; Unveiling Ministries; Vulcan; Walmart; Wellcare: and Westmoreland for Congress.
