Newnan’s newest grocery store is now open, and a sister store is scheduled to open up later this month in the western part of Coweta County.
Little Giant Farmers Market opened Monday, five days ahead of the original schedule. The newest store is located on U.S. Highway 29 North and is in the old Food Lion location at the intersection with the Millard Farmer Industrial Boulevard/ Highway 34 Bypass.
Armstrong estimated more than 200 people had already gone through the check-out lines by noon on Monday.
“It’s a nice, clean store,” said Joy Waller, one of the first to pick up some groceries. “The selection was great — everything you would want.”
The vegetable and fruit section, as well as the meat and seafood department, are all located in the same spots as when Food Lion was there. There appeared to be more products available and one obvious difference was different store brands.
The Newnan location got approval for an off-premise license to sale beer and wine from the Newnan City Council on Tuesday.
The company’s second location in the area, in a store space off Georgia Highway 16 West at Macedonia Road, is expected to open June 29. It also will be located in a former Food Lion location.
