A Sharpsburg couple is facing multiple drugs and weapons charges after being arrested outside a hotel near an Interstate 85 exit in Coweta County.
Among the charges against Jennifer Melissa Lopez, 34, and Brett Tyler Brown, 26, are possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of Xanax, possession of firearms during commission of a crime and removing serial numbers from a firearm, according to Major Jimmy Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office.
Brown also is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the major added.
Investigators received information the two were selling drugs out of a room at the Comfort Inn on Bullsboro Drive, Yarbrough said. On May 8, the two were arrested as they pulled into the hotel parking lot on a motorcycle.
"They agreed to a search and we found drugs on them," Yarbrough said. "They consented to us searching the room and that's where we found the firearms.
"They (the guns) have not come back as stolen, but we believe they are and are running checks on them," he added.
Also seized were bags of marijuana, smoking pipes and methamphetamine in a form known as "Ice."
