Newspaper to publish five days a week beginning April 16

Beginning April 16, The Newnan Times-Herald will become a five-day-a-week newspaper instead of a seven-day-a-week publication.
We will no longer publish a print edition of the newspaper on Mondays and Tuesdays beginning next week.
Newspapers everywhere have felt the effects of the economy and technology in recent years. Here in Newnan, we tightened our belts with employee cutbacks in early 2009. However, revenues again have declined for more than a year while expenses have increased. It became clear earlier this year we would have to make further cuts to keep providing our readers and advertisers a product that will meet their needs.
The Monday and Tuesday newspapers are our smallest publications of the week. There is less advertising, news and information in those two products than in newspapers published Wednesday through Sunday.
Many other community newspapers our size and smaller in our region, our state and across the country have reduced days of publication. Some newspapers printing five days a week have reduced their print editions to three days a week. Others have cut from seven days to five or six days.
The Newnan Times-Herald had become one of the few seven-day-a-week newspapers our size in Georgia. Now we must reduce our publication schedule from seven days to five days to remain successful.
The regular news and features information – including the comics, Mini Page, Senior Living, Family and Health News – in the Monday and Tuesday editions will be shifted to others days during the week.
Because of this change, all of our home delivery subscribers will have their subscriptions extended up to 60 days depending on when the subscription expires.
In addition to the new five-day-a-week publication schedule, we will continue to provide our readers and advertisers with our times-herald.com website, which contains a portion of the content of the newspaper. This website will be updated with breaking news items on Mondays and Tuesdays.
In addition we offer our digital edition, which provides all content and pages published in the daily newspaper.
By subscribing to the digital edition you can get an electronic copy of the daily newspaper, turn the pages and read all stories on your computer, your IPad or your Smart phone.
This digital edition is provided free to subscribers of our print edition.

The change in publication schedule will not impact the office hours of the newspaper.
Our offices at 16 Jefferson St., in downtown Newnan will continue to be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Newnan Times-Herald dates back to 1865. It was started as The Newnan Herald on Sept. 9, 1865.
We are now in our 147th year of publication, and we will continue to be around for many more years as a community newspaper and the top source of local news, advertising and information about the people, places and things in both Newnan and Coweta County.
