14-year-old charged with felony drug possession at school

By John Winters

The Newnan Times-Herald

A 14-year-old student was arrested Friday at Arnall Middle School on felony drug possession charges, according to a Coweta County Sheriff's Office report.

The juvenile was identified only as a white male, according to a report posted on the sheriff's office website.

He was charged with Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act for possession of Schedule 1 and 2 narcotics, according to the report.

Those drug classifications cover a wide range -- marijuana, cocaine, morphine, amphetamines, and heroin are examples.

Dean Jackson, public information officer for Coweta County School System, confirmed the 14-year-old was a student, but said he could not comment further, citing student privacy issues.

Officers with the School Resource Unit of the sheriff's office involved were not available Friday afternoon.

The middle school is located on Lora Smith Road off Georgia 34 East.
