Area students earn degrees at Georgia College

The following local students recently graduated from Georgia College in Milledgeville. Guice and Rivers named to Dean’s List at CCU

Elizabeth A. Guice, a senior from Fairburn majoring in resort tourism management, and Miquela S. Rivers, a senior from Fayetteville majoring in musical theater, were named to the Dean’s List at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. To qualify for the Dean's List, upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average.

Batten named to Dean’s List at Union

Ivy Batten of Newnan has been named to the Union University Dean's List for the spring 2014 semester. The Dean's List includes full-time students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average on a four-point scale. Union is located in Jackson, Tennessee.

Gray makes Dean’s List at US-Sewanee

Amelia Anne Gray of Newnan, the daughter of Tonya D. Gray. and John T. Gray, has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, for the Easter 2014 term. To earn a place on the Dean's List, a student must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.625 on a 4.0 scale.

Locals named to Dean’s List at Berry

The following area students have been named to Berry College's spring 2014 Dean's List: Ann Christian Juren of Fayetteville, Emily Barton of Fayetteville, Joe Crain of Newnan, Whitney Kirkpatrick of Newnan, Stephanie Tomys of Newnan, Kristin Lynch of Senoia, Lauren Buck of Senoia, Katy Sexton of Sharpsburg, and Max Smerka of Sharpsburg. The Dean's List Berry College in Mt. Berry honors students who posted an academic average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying a class load of at least 12 hours during the semester.

Wood named to President’s List at Clemson

Ciara Elizabeth Wood of Newnan, whose major is early childhood education, has been named to the President's List at Clemson University for the spring 2014 semester. To be named to the President's List, a student must achieve a 4.0 grade-point average.

Ashley and Thomas earn degrees at Wofford

Two local students recently graduated from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Jeffrey Scott Ashley received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics with a concentration in the teacher education program. Ashley is from Brooks. His parents are Michael and Janet Ashley. John William Thomas received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a minor in business, summa cum laude. Thomas is from Newnan. His parents are John and Lisa Thomas.

Keiler earns academic honors at Washington College

Emanuel Keiler of Newnan was recently recognized for academic excellence and achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland.

Slagle graduates from Carson-Newman

Toby Slagle of Sharpsburg was among Carson-Newman University’s spring 2014 graduating class. Slagle graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Jefferson City, Tennessee school.

Locals graduate from GSSU

The following area residents graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus during the spring 2014 Commencement Ceremony held on May 10. David Crabtree of Newnan earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in middle grades education. Katherine Dieckmann of Newnan earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing. Jessica Durrett of Sharpsburg earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology. Briana Courtois of Fayetteville earned a Bachelor of Science in information technology.

Slagle earns a place on Dean’s List at Lenoir-Rhyne

Jacob Slagle of Sharpsburg was named to the spring 2014 Dean's List at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina . Students on the Dean's List have demonstrated their academic abilities by receiving a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.89 on a 4.0 scale, provided no grade was below a "C" in a single semester, and the students must also have carried at least 12 hours of letter-graded courses.

Several area students recently earned degrees from Berry College in Mt. Berry. Brittany Alfieri of Senoia graduated with a BS in Early Childhood Education. Abbey Carson of Sharpsburg graduated with a BA in history. Grace Dunklin of Sharpsburg graduated with a BAH in visual communication. Zach Farmer of Newnan graduated with a BS in exercise science. Anna Pirkle of Fayetteville graduated with a BS in exercise science. Stephanie Tomys of Newnan graduated with a BA in political science. Ashley West of Sharpsburg graduated with a BA in psychology.

Blamire and Durrett make Dean’s List at GSSU

The following local residents made the spring 2014 President's List for scholastic achievement at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus. They are Garrett Blamire of Newnan and Jessica Durrett of Sharpsburg. To be eligible for the President's List, a student must earn a semester GPA of 4.0 and take a minimum of 12 credit hours.
