Teacher in Focus: Brittany Pankopp

by Celia Shortt

Brittany Pankopp teaches sixth grade earth science at Arnall Middle School. This year is her fifth year of teaching and her first in Coweta County. She is also the basketball pep squad coach.

Why did you become a teacher?

I always had jobs with kids - lifeguard, camp counselor. I was good at it, so it made sense to do it.

If you were not a teacher, what would you be doing?

My undergraduate degree is in biology, so probably something with science. Probably a nurse.

What is your favorite part of teaching?

Seeing the students progress. You can see the impact you make on them throughout the year.

What do you for fun?

Crossfit, indoor soccer, tennis

Do you have a family?

I’m married to Brian Pankopp. We were just married in October.

What is your favorite movie?

Almost Famous

What is the one thing you want your students to learn?

Life skills.

What is the best part of being at Arnall?

The faculty and administration are completely supportive and always positive, even with the kids. The principal is wonderful and always has a smile on her face.
