Amanda Freyman, fifth grade, Glanton Elementary

Amanda Freyman teaches fifth grade at Glanton Elementary School in Grantville. She has been teaching for six years, all in Coweta County.

Why did you become a teacher?

Growing up, learning and school was the foremost thing for our family. I did riding lessons in high school and Teacher Cadets (now Teacher Pipeline) in Newnan. Both reinforced why I wanted to be a teacher. I wanted to share my love of leadership.

What is your favorite thing about teaching?

The actual interaction with kids everyday. When they raise their hands, and say “I get it!” No two days are the same.

If you were not a teacher, what would you be doing?

Something with animals, especially horses. I’d probably be a vet.

What do you do when you’re not teaching?

Riding and showing appaloosas. If I’m not here (at Glanton), I’m in the barn.

What is your favorite movie(s)?

Sweet Home Alabama, Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken, Seabiscuit, The Holiday

What is your favorite book(s)?

A Year Down Yonder, Number the Stars

What is the one thing you hope your students learn?

Success doesn’t always happen the first time you try something. It’s okay if you don’t get it the first time. Try it again.

What is your favorite part of being at Glanton?

Because it is a small school, we get to know them (students) all and watch them through the years. Also, we have a great fifth grade team here.
