Johnson graduates from Shorter

Leslie Marie Johnson of Newnan recently graduated from Shorter University in Rome with a bachelor degree in business administration.

Locals graduate from Darton

Three area students recently graduated from the Darton State College Nursing Program with associate of science degrees. They are Robert Brandon and Jennifer Elliot of Newnan, Sherry Hopkins of Peachtree City, and Bernice Graham of Fairburn. The students were recognized during the traditional Nursing Pinning Ceremony, which took place at the Cavalier Arena on December 10. They are now eligible to take the licensing examination to become registered nurses.

Kee studies in Greece

Alyssa Kee of Newnan recently returned from a three-month semester studying at Harding University in Greece. As part of the curriculum, Kee spent the semester immersed in Greek culture. Students had the opportunity to experience a Mediterranean cruise and visit historical sites in the Peloponnese, Northern Greece, Turkey, and Israel.

Roden named to Dean’s List

Jill Roden of Sharpsburg has been named to the fall 2013 Dean's List at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah. In order to make the Dean's List, students must be enrolled in at least nine semester hours of coursework and earn a grade point average of at least 3.6. Roden is majoring in Spanish.

Berry earns master’s degree

Alexandria Berry of Newnan has earned a master of fine arts degree in sculpture from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Two locals graduate from Berry

Courtney Teagle and Preston Woods, both of Newnan, recently graduated from Berry College in Rome. Teagle earned a bachelor of science in biology. Woods graduated with a bachelor of science in health degree in psychology.

Area students named to Reinhardt Dean’s List

Reinhardt University recently announced that the following local residents were named to the Dean’s List: Kathryn Burns and Brandon Ruston of Newnan, David Winkles of Sharpsburg, and Emily Haney and Kendra Smith of Fayetteville. A Reinhardt Dean's List student must maintain a 3.5 grade-point average based on successful completion of a minimum of 12 semester credits with no grade less than a B.

Area students earn academic honors at Georgia College

The following area students completed courses with exemplary marks and made the 2013 fall President's List at Georgia College in Milledgeville: Lydia Ozier of Grantville; Rachel Bryan, Connor Grieb, Ashley Quesinberry, Kyle Sorrells, Ashley Burgin, Morgan Caldwell, Hannah Hagley, and Olivia Meeks, all of Newnan; and Kendall Taylor of Sharpsburg.

Additionally, the following students made the 2013 fall Dean's List at Georgia College: Madeleine Achee, John Bryan, Amanda Caldwell, Leah Diebboll, Cali Fain, Anna Moore, Melissa Sport, Brendan Thomas, Savannah Moody, and Allison Smith, all of Newnan; Morgan Branch, Ashley Buchanan, Edward Kelly, Megan McGurl, and Delaney Rhodes, all of Sharpsburg; Kathleen Green of Brooks; Hilary Lassetter of Grantville; Alexandra Brown, Cameron Gresham, and Abbigail Nellessen, all of Senoia; Samuel Moore of Milledgeville; and Bethan Adams, Margaret Foulk, and Jennifer Hill, all of Fayetteville.
