Moreland Elementary School’s students presented “A Holiday Showcase” on Dec. 9.

The evening program was at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts on Lower Fayetteville Road. Each grade level sang before the intermission. Afterward, the Moreland Elementary Chorus, under the direction of Abigail Wakefield, presented a concert.

Melanie Perry, principal at Moreland, welcomed the family and friends. The concert, she promised, would be “sure to brighten your holiday spirits.”

Pre-kindergarten classes sang “Jingle Bells,” “I’m a Little Pine Tree,” “Whose?” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “Up on the Housetop” were the kindergarten selections.

First-graders sang “Jolly Old St. Nicholas,” “All I Want for Christmas” and “The Night Before Christmas.” The second-grade segment included “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” and “Blitzen’s Boogie,” and the third-graders sang “ Jolly Old St. Nicholas.”

During the chorus concert, songs included “What Child is This?” and “Somewhere in My Memory.” Gavin Arrington and Rihanna Mursalim were instrumentalists for “A Festive Holiday,” and Evelyn Garcia was instrumentalist for “Stopping By the Woods on a Snowy Evening.”

For “Jingle Bell Rock,” Andrew Kerr and Emma Willingham shared their instrumental talents. Chloe Gaiters and Makenzie Barnett were soloists for “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.”

“One Star” featured both soloists and instrumentalists. The soloists were Makayla Adcock, Landon Moore and Emma Privett. Instrumentalists for “One Star” were Grace Fallon and Samantha Olvey.
