Amber Broach, first grade teacher at Western Elementary School.

How long have you been a teacher?

This is my first year as a teacher.

Why did you want to be one?

I have a younger brother who has attention issues. I felt his teachers didn’t focus on his needs. So, I became a teacher so I could help students like him.

What is your favorite part of being a teacher?

My favorite part is getting to be with the students all day and seeing the “aha” moment, getting to talk to them, and getting to know them.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not in the classroom?

I enjoy running, doing Crossfit, reading, and music. I sing on the praise team at my church in Carrollton. I also enjoy hanging out with friends and family.

What is your favorite book? Favorite movie?

My favorite books are the Hunger Games Trilogy, the Bible, and different devotionals. My favorite movie is anything Disney.

What is one thing you hope students learn?

To cooperate with one another and to come with positive attitudes and a willingness to help others and to encourage one another.
